Lucy Chen Hosts AAPI Heritage Month Author Talk at Albany Library onResilience, Parenting, and the Immigrant Experience

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — May 6, 2026 — During AAPI Heritage Month, executive coach, author, and speaker Lucy Chen returned to her own community for a deeply personal author event at the Albany Library, featuring her #1 Amazon bestselling book, Good Moms DO Cry: Raising Resilient Kids as an Immigrant Parent.

The free community event brought together parents, educators, community members, and local families for an afternoon of reflection, storytelling, and conversation centered on resilience, parenting, and the emotional realities many immigrant families quietly carry.

During the talk, Chen shared the deeply personal journey behind writing the book—one she initially hesitated to publish because of how vulnerable and close to home the stories felt. “I wrote this book for every immigrant parent who feels like they’re failing in silence,” Chen shared during the event. “For every mom who cries in the car before walking back into the house. For every parent trying to raise resilient children in a world changing faster than any of us expected.”

The event featured:

● A live author talk on raising resilient children during uncertain times

● Audience Q&A and discussion

● A community book signing

● Conversations around identity, belonging, emotional resilience, and intergenerational pressure

Attendees reflected on themes that extended beyond parenting alone, including leadership, mental wellness, burnout, and navigating change with empathy and resilience. Chen emphasized that resilience is not only a parenting conversation, but an increasingly important leadership conversation for organizations, teams, and communities facing rapid change and uncertainty.

The event was held as part of AAPI Heritage Month programming in Albany and welcomed attendees from across the Bay Area.
