SAN FRANCISCO, CA — March 10, 2025 — Lucy Chen, founder of Gifted Coaching and award-winning author of Build Resilience, recently spoke at SXSW as part of the Chief suite on March 10. Moderated by Melissa Richard-Person, Lucy joined an inspiring panel featuring Bibi Brown and Sophia Taitt to speak on the topic of Leading Through Pivots With Resilience. Alongside such esteemed women leaders, Chen was able to share real-world lessons in spearheading with a growth mindset to women executives, Chief Members in SXSW, and all SXSW badge holders.
In an era defined by rapid transformation and uncertainty, the session emphasized the power of resilience and self-care, all while navigating personal and professional transformation. Having a journey marked by career pivots and overcoming obstacles, Lucy served as a living example of how resilience fuels growth, redemption, and reinvention.
She shared that it was resilience that allowed her to balance family and career demands while overcoming relentless hurdles, and how those experiences shaped the leader she is today. “Resilience isn’t just about bouncing back—it’s about rising stronger,” Lucy shared. “I have faced setbacks, failures, and challenges, but each experience shaped who I am today…Every transition forced me out of my comfort zone, but growth always came on the other side of fear.”
Following the event, Chen credited her preparation and confidence to her Toastmasters community and fellow Chief Members, sharing that it was through collaborating with them that this success was both possible and meaningful. With much gratitude, she reflected on the inspiring experience and the amazing opportunity to have powerful conversations with many brilliant women in Dallas and Austin.
Lucy was also featured in Chief’s official article for Women’s History Month 2025, a tribute to women leaders creating meaningful change across industries. Chief highlighted key voices from its SXSW Suite and broader community, celebrating those who embody resilience, innovation, and impactful leadership. Lucy’s quote — “Only when you step into the unknown do you know your true potential” — was included alongside executives from TikTok, Planned Parenthood, and e.l.f. Beauty. Her words emphasized the importance of embracing ambiguity and growth, inspiring the next generation of leaders to lead with courage.
