SAN FRANCISCO, CA — March 15, 2025 — On March 15, the San Francisco Main Library hosted Empowered Voices: Chinese American Women Shaping Resilience and Community, a speaker event featuring Bay Area leaders Lucy Chen, Yan Zhao, and Anita Chen. The panel, moderated by Beimin Ni, brought together professionals, community members, and aspiring leaders for a powerful discussion on leadership, cultural identity, and resilience in celebration of International Women's Day and Women's History Month.

Lucy Chen, founder of Gifted Books and author of Build Resilience: Live, Learn, and Lead, joined the panel to share her journey from engineering and corporate finance to entrepreneurship and authorship. Speaking to a full auditorium, Chen emphasized the value of cross-sector experience, legacy-building, and inclusive storytelling in shaping sustainable impact.

A Conversation at the Intersection of Culture, Leadership, and Legacy

Panelists reflected on the unique challenges and strengths of Chinese American women navigating leadership roles; both in professional environments and within their communities. From career pivots to intergenerational storytelling, the dialogue offered practical insights for entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, and business professionals alike.

The event concluded with a book signing, where Lucy introduced the Chinese-language edition of Build Resilience, a self-published milestone that further expands access to culturally resonant leadership narratives.
