SAN FRANCISCO, CA — August 14, 2025 — The Chief Clubhouse in San Francisco was filled with energy and inspiration as the CITRIS and the Banatao Institute summer interns presented their final projects under the leadership of Lucy Chen and Angelina Yang, who co-hosted the event.
Over the summer, the interns worked on projects ranging from social impact platforms to digital courses, mobile apps connecting founders with interns, and AI writing tools. Their presentations reflected not only bold ideas and technical innovation, but also personal growth, resilience, and a vision for technology that serves the greater good.
The event spotlighted the creativity and dedication of the two full teams: Ling Lu Baltodano, Jenelle Soo, Ethan Chau, Derek Sun, Edison Chau, Oliver Zhang, Joyce Yang, Justin Cho, Siyuan Z., and Gezheng Kang. Both Chen and Yang celebrated their interns for approaching challenges with curiosity, collaboration, and heart.
The showcase was strengthened by the support of Chief members, advisors, family, and friends who came to cheer on the interns, both in person and online. Their presence underscored the community of encouragement behind the program. CITRIS leaders were also in attendance and recognized for creating meaningful opportunities for students to explore innovation at the intersection of technology and society.
Guests praised the impact of the event. “This was such an incredible opportunity to explore what these change makers are ready to contribute in the world. So delighted to be there, thank you!” shared one attendee.
Together, Lucy Chen and Angelina Yang reaffirmed the mission of CITRIS and the Banatao Institute: to inspire future leaders and innovators, and to demonstrate how technology can uplift and empower.
